Questions & Answers
Aussiedoodles are hybrid designer dogs, created by crossing an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle. They are considered a medium-sized dog, with some specimens standing at around 20 inches tall and weighing up to 50 pounds. Aussiedoodles typically have a coat of soft, curly fur, with hues ranging from deep browns to bright whites. The temperament of an Aussiedoodle tends to be very loving and cheerful. They make great family pets due to their loyal and affectionate nature. This breed is also known for their intelligence and can learn commands quickly.
Many people who have allergies are concerned about getting an Aussiedoodle, because they are a hybrid of two breeds a standard Poodle and an Australian Shepherd. However, it is important to note that Aussiedoodles don't necessarily predispose their owners to allergies. Allergens are found in a dogs saliva, urine, and dander. All Aussiedoodles produce some amount of allergens in those areas, and it is therefore possible that those with allergies can be affected.
Aussiedoodles should not be fed human food if it contains ingredients, such as grapes, raisins, garlic, onions, artificial sweeteners, or caffeinated products, which can be toxic to Aussiedoodles. These food items can cause serious health issues such as digestive issues, damage to the liver and kidney, and in some cases, death. Other items such as rawhide, bones, and certain dog treats can cause choking, digestive blockages, or can break apart and cause internal damage.
Preparing for a new Aussiedoodle can take time and effort, but it is important to ensure that both the pup and their new family are prepared for the transition. First off, you should research about the breed, learning about their typical behaviors, dietary needs, temperament, trainability, and any special health needs. Next, you will need to provide the puppy with the necessary accoutrements for their new home, such as beds, toys, bowls, crates, and leashes.
Aussiedoodles, which are a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a Miniature or Standard Poodle, vary in size depending on their parents. On average, Miniature Aussiedoodles typically reach 12-17 inches in height and weigh 15-30 pounds full grown, while Standard Aussiedoodles can grow to 18-23 inches tall and weigh 40-65 pounds. They tend to be most closely sized to the smaller Parent, the Poodle.
Aussiedoodles absolutely love water, including swimming! As these hybrid dogs have Poodle and Australian Shepherd in their ancestry, they have a natural affinity for being around and playing in the water. With their strong natural tendency for being very active, swimming can be a great outlet for their energy. Furthermore, swimming is a great form of exercise for Aussiedoodles and can be fun for them too. It's especially important to start teaching them when they are puppies so that they can get used to it.
Aussiedoodles are a great choice for families with kids. They are an intelligent, family-oriented breed and are known for their friendly, loyal personalities. They are eager to please and great with children of all ages. In addition, they make a great companion for hiking, camping, swimming, and other outdoor activities. Aussiedoodles are easy to train and can be very playful and fun-loving. With an appropriate amount of socialization, exercise, and training, these dogs can fit into family life with ease.
Aussiedoodles are incredibly intelligent and highly energetic, making them an excellent companion and providing endless possibilities for training. Training your Aussiedoodle should be approached in a positive and consistent manner, encouraging good behaviors and providing clear rules and structure. Positive reinforcement, such as rewards and praise, for the behaviors you want to encourage is often more effective and beneficial than punishing inappropriate behavior. Additionally, a regular routine sets the stage for the desired behaviors you want to cultivate.
