It is an intelligent, loyal breed that combines both the protective nature of the Australian Shepherd and the intelligence of the Poodle. Aussiedoodles come in a variety of sizes and colors, depending on their parents, making this breed ideal for anyone looking for a companion or therapy dog. They are an active breed that requires daily exercise and lots of attention in order to keep their minds and bodies healthy. They get along well with children and other pets, and can be easily trained.
Aussiedoodle coats differ depending on their lineage, and can range from short and straight to long and curly. While the coat type can be an influencing factor regarding allergies, it's not a guarantee. Everyone is different and individual sensitivity to allergies can have an impact. Allergens can come from dander, saliva, urine or SHEDDING. Some Aussiedoodles may have higher amounts of those allergens, protruding to those with allergies. As a fun fact, some Aussiedoodles will even do a few laps without having to be prompted! Swimming is also great exercise and a great way to relieve any excess energy they might have.
Aussiedoodles are often very social animals who get along well with other dogs as well as other pets. With proper socialization and lots of positive experiences with other animals, Aussiedoodles can form wonderful bonds with your other pets. Aussiedoodles require at least 15-20 minutes of daily exercise. That may include walks, games of fetch, and interactive play indoors or outdoors. Aussiedoodles need mental stimulation as well as physical exercise to stay healthy and happy. If you can devote 30 minutes or more to exercise per day, that would be ideal for your Aussiedoodle's overall wellbeing. If you can devote a couple of hours per day to exercise, that would be even better.
