Aussiedoodles are a unique crossbreed between the Australian Shepherd and the Poodle. Their intelligence, inherited from the Poodle, makes them easy to train and obedient dogs. They also come in split-coat varieties, meaning it has both long and short coats that may vary in types from long and straight, to curly and wavy. Aussiedoodles have heaps of energy and require plenty of activity and stimulation to help prevent them from becoming bored. Their enthusiasm for life is often seen in their mischievous behaviors.
Aussiedoodles are bred to be a low-shedding breed. However, they are not completely non-shedding. As with any other breed, they do produce an occasional loose hair now and then. However, they are much less likely to produce large amounts of fur like some other breeds. Additionally, regular brushing and proper grooming can help minimize the amount of shedding. Overall, Aussiedoodles are considered to be an excellent pet for people who dislike or cannot tolerate a lot of fur around the house.
Aussiedoodles should avoid all types of human food as it can be too rich for their digestive system. Additionally, certain types of fruits and vegetables deemed healthy snacks for people can be dangerous for your Aussiedoodle. Grapes and raisins can cause kidney failure, garlic and onions can be toxic, and avocado, cherries, and macadamia nuts can cause abdominal pain and other health concerns.
Before getting an Aussiedoodle, you should purchase a few essentials to ensure your pup's comfort and safety. First, you'll need to have a collar, leash, bed, food bowls, toys, and treats on hand. You will also need to stock up on the right type of dog food for your Aussiedoodle, and potentially look into other grooming supplies and oral hygiene items like toothbrushes and specific toothpastes.
Aussiedoodles are generally considered to be medium-sized dogs. While they can be smaller than other breeds, they are typically larger than many breeds commonly referred to as "small dogs."
