Questions & Answers
An Aussiedoodle is a type of designer dog created by crossing an Australian Shepherd with a Poodle. This breed is known for its intelligence, loyalty, and commitment to making its owners happy. Aussiedoodles are hybrid dogs that possess a combination of both traits from both parent breeds. They are less prone to many of the common health issues that plague more traditional purebreds, and they exhibit fewer allergic reactions than purebreds. Aussiedoodles enjoy spending both indoor and outdoor time, and they make great family companions.
Aussiedoodles can be considered hypoallergenic, but not 100% so. They are a crossbreed between an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle, known for being low shedding, so their tendency is to be hypoallergenic. However, because each Aussiedoodle will have different characteristics depending on its parents' genes, some individuals may not be as hypoallergenic as others.
Aussiedoodles thrive on a diet that is well-balanced in both protein and nutrition. It should include at least 20% protein and 8 to 10% fat. When selecting a dog food, choose something that is all natural, high in protein, and low in carbs. Look for food with a high quality protein source like chicken, beef, or lamb as the first ingredient. Additionally, your Aussiedoodle will benefit from food that contains healthy fats -such as omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids -for a shiny coat and healthy skin.
Before getting an Aussiedoodle, it is important to have all of the necessary supplies. This includes items such as a collar, leash, tags, bedding, high-quality food, chew toys, grooming supplies, treats, an enclosed area for relief, and a crate for training purposes. In addition, consider purchasing a crate that is big enough for the Aussiedoodle to stand and turn around in. You may also want to get a safety harness for car rides.
Aussiedoodles come in a variety of sizes, from the Teacup variety which are about 10 inches tall when fully grown, to the Standard, which can reach heights of over two feet. While some smaller Aussiedoodles, such as the Toy and Mini, can be considered small dogs, their size depends greatly on the breeds that make up the particular Aussiedoodle in question. On average, Aussiedoodles that are bred specifically as small dogs weigh between 15-30lbs, although of course, even within this size range, there can be some variation.
Aussiedoodles are active, intelligent, and energetic dogs, so they need considerable exercise to keep them healthy and happy. Agility exercises can help keep them mentally and physically engaged. Generally, around an hour of exercise daily is recommended such as walking, running, playing fetch, etc. While they can adapt to different settings and climates, it's important to keep in mind they're a high-energy breed and need exercise on a daily basis to be healthy. Even when taking them on a walk, longer sessions typically produce better results.
Aussiedoodles are a great breed for first-time owners! These popular designer dogs are known for their intelligence, obedient nature, and life-long loyalty which makes them a great companion. Aussiedoodles are also very friendly, good with people of all ages, and easily trained. They require some attention but as long as their obedience needs are met, they will do well. Aussiedoodle puppies need plenty of exercise, mental stimulation, and socialization in order to keep them from developing bad habits.
Training an Aussiedoodle can be a fun and rewarding process for both owner and dog. Start with short, positive training sessions and avoid long, drawn-out lessons. Incorporate rewards-based methods, like addressing good behavior with treats or verbal reinforcement. Establish a daily routine; this will help your dog learn more quickly. Start with basic commands, such as sitting and staying, and work on teaching these commands until they become automatic. Incorporate commands like fetching, walking on a leash, and rolling over to further your Aussiedoodle's education.
