Questions & Answers
Aussiedoodles are a hybrid dog breed, created by combining the Australian Shepherd and the Poodle. They are considered to be part of the designer dog breed, and because they vary so much depending on which parent breeds they take after, they can be part of any of the three American Kennel Club size categories: Toy, Miniature, and Standard. Generally, Aussiedoodles weigh anywhere between 15 to 70 pounds and are very active, loyal, and energetic. They have wonderful temperaments and are eager to please making them great family pets.
Aussiedoodles are considered a hypoallergenic breed because of their low-shedding coats. As a result, they are believed to be less likely to trigger allergy symptoms compared to other breeds. However, individual allergies and sensitivities to dogs can vary greatly, so it's best to spend some time with an Aussiedoodle before committing to adoption. If you have allergies, you could consider visiting the animal shelter or a local adoption center in order to spend time with an Aussiedoodle before making a purchase.
Aussiedoodles are generally not good with human foods due to their bodies not digesting these items correctly. Therefore, it's best to focus on a high-quality, balanced kibble or wet food specifically designed for their unique dietary needs. Foods to avoid are anything containing chocolate, onions, garlic, grapes and raisins, high-sugar items, fatty foods, or any type of bones. Too much human food, dairy, or plant-based proteins can also be dangerous as Aussiedoodles are carnivores.
To become the best puppy parent for your Aussiedoodle, start by researching their behavior, diet, and general needs. Be sure to create a safe and secure environment with a consistent routine and lots of exercise. Get creative with the training process, using positive reinforcement to reward good behaviors and calmly redirect the puppy away from unwanted behaviors. Be patient and persistent. Be consistent in your responses to ensure the puppy understands what is expected in a variety of situations. Lastly, find a reputable vet and ensure your puppy receives all necessary vaccinations, de-worming, and regular check ups.
Aussiedoodles can vary in size based on a few different things, including their parents' sizes and whether they are a standard, mini, or toy version. Typically these dogs can range from small to medium-sized, but some can be larger if their parents were. As far as categorizing them as "big dogs," that can be up to the individual and their experience with different breeds. Generally speaking, however, Aussiedoodles are considered medium-sized dogs that don't usually exceed 20-27 inches in height and 60-100 pounds in weight.
Aussiedoodle dogs require plenty of exercise and walking is an excellent way to provide them with the physical and mental activity they need. As a general rule, you should try to walk your Aussiedoodle for at least 30 minutes each day. However, the exact amount of time required will depend on your pup's age and energy level. If your Aussiedoodle is a younger, more energetic dog, they'll likely require more time and effort to keep them happy and healthy. For older, less active dogs, shorter 15-minute walks should suffice.
Aussiedoodles can make wonderful companions for first-time owners. They're highly intelligent and affectionate dogs with a good temperament, which makes learning and training much easier. They have low grooming requirements and are suitable for both indoor and outdoor living. Aussiedoodles are incredibly friendly and get along well with children, strangers, and other pets. They can be quite active and need daily exercise, which makes them a great fit for families who like to be active or take long walks.
Aussiedoodles require roughly 15-30 minutes of exercise every day to stay healthy and well-behaved. To help them reach their full physical and mental potential, an increased amount of activity is necessary. Depending on your Aussiedoodle's health and age, they may need anywhere from one to three longer walks each day, plus smaller bursts of activity like playing fetch, agility games, and other physical activities such as swimming and running.
