Questions & Answers
Aussiedoodles are officially considered a hybrid/designer dog and they do not have an established breed classification. However, they are a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle, so they usually have traits of these two highly intelligent and active breeds. They can range in size from being small toy poodles weighing around 15 pounds up to standard poodles weighing in around 60 pounds or more, and they can vary in appearance and coat type as well.
Aussiedoodles are generally considered to be hypoallergenic, meaning it is unlikely that they will cause you to have allergies. Allergies are often caused by pet dander which is produced by dogs, cats and other animals. Aussiedoodles, however, produce significantly less dander than other breeds because the cross-breeding process has resulted in a low-shedding trait. Additionally, the breed has an excellent reputation for having no pet-specific odor, unlike other dogs, which can be another cause of allergies.
Aussiedoodles potentially have high-protein needs, so the best food is one that is designed to meet their dietary needs. When selecting a food for an Aussiedoodle, look for a formula that includes meat as the first ingredient, such as chicken, beef, or lamb, as well as supplements like omega-3 fatty acids, glucosamine, and chondroitin. Additionally, it should have no artificial preservatives, flavors, or colors and include fewer fillers, such as corn, soy, gluten, and wheat.
Prepping for a new Aussiedoodle is an exciting yet challenging task! First, make sure you have all the necessary supplies, such as a bed, toys, food, grooming items, and a crate. In addition, it's important to familiarize yourself with the Aussie's background and temperament in order to get an understanding of how to best care for and train your pup. You may also want to do some research on breeds that your pup is a mix of in order to learn about their unique characteristics.
Aussiedoodles can vary in size depending on the type of Aussie and Poodle used to create them. On average, they are considered a medium-sized breed and can reach up to 28 inches in height and can weigh up to 55 pounds. However, many tend to be significantly smaller and rarely reach more than 25 inches in height, instead they are usually closer to 18 to 22 inches in height and weigh 20 to 35 pounds when fully grown.
The amount of time you should walk your Aussiedoodle each day depends on a few factors. Age, size and health all should be taken into consideration when determining the amount of exercise per day. Generally speaking, puppies should only have 10-15 minute walks a few times a day, while adult Aussiedoodles need at least 30-60 minutes daily. However, if your Aussiedoodle is young, overweight or has health issues, you should be more conservative and keep the walks closer to 15-30 minutes.
Aussiedoodles are generally good with kids and make excellent family pets! They are an active breed that loves to play, but can also be very gentle and sweet with children. Aussiedoodles need lots of love and attention and when properly trained, can be the perfect companion for children. Their intelligence and energy make them easy to train and they love to learn fun tricks. They form very strong bonds with their families and genuinely enjoy being around children.
Training your Aussiedoodle is a beneficial way to foster a good relationship between you and your pup. One way to start training your pup is to create a structured daily routine. This includes feeding and walking your pup at the same times each day, as well as picking out appropriate toys to encourage focused play. Additionally, positive reinforcement is key when training your Aussiedoodle, so when they follow your commands, be sure to provide them with treats and praise. Breaking tasks down into smaller, manageable chunks will also help your pup learn, and be sure to take regular breaks in between training sessions.
