They have all the affection and loyalty that Bernese Mountain Dogs are known for, as well as the intelligence, low-shedding coat, and lower activity levels of the Poodle. Plus, since these two breeds have been deliberately bred together over generations, Bernedoodles are also known for having a calmer, more even temperment than most purebreds.
Bernedoodles can be hypoallergenic depending on the type of coat they inherit from their sire and dam. If they inherit the characteristics of a Poodle, with its tighter curls and wooly coat, then yes, they can be hypoallergenic. On the other hand, if they inherit the characteristic loose curls of a Bernese Mountain Dog, then it is less likely that they will be hypoallergenic.
