The Cavalier King Charles is a beautiful, yet versatile breed of dog. Its coat is typically a flat, silky, full-bodied texture that usually comes in four solid colors: Blenheim, Tri-color, Black and Tan, and Ruby. The coat should be naturally feathered on the ears, chest, legs, belly, and sometimes, the feet. It should also be quite long on the body, neck and tail, and should be an even length all around the body.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels thrive on a diet that is rich in nutrients and protein. In general, adult Cavalier King Charles Spaniels should be fed a high-quality dry dog food for adult maintenance. Canned food can also be offered and can be a great way to add additional moisture to the diet. Additionally, fresh vegetables, such as cooked carrots, green beans, and pumpkin, can be added to their dry kibble to provide additional vitamins and minerals.
Before you bring a Cavalier King Charles into your home, it is important to have the essentials on hand to give them a comfortable and safe environment. For older and less active dogs, running and fetching can be used to stimulate their minds as well as their muscles.
