Questions & Answers
Cavapoos are a hybrid between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle mix that many people admire for their intelligence, friendliness, and nonshedding coat. They are considered a "designer breed," meaning they are bred to have specific traits. Cavapoos are quite active and love to go on long walks or play fetch. Additionally, they are very intelligent and train easily. Cavapoos are often loyal to their families and love spending time with their owners, whether they are indoors or out.
Cavapoos, or crosses between Cocker Spaniels and a Poodle, do have a potential to be hypoallergenic, however it is not always the case. To achieve a truly hypoallergenic result, one would need to search for a Cavapoo parent with a known non-shedding (hypoallergenic) coat type and verify that both parents have been tested and identified as being non-shedding.
Cavapoos have similar dietary needs to those of other breeds. However, as a mixed-breed, their individual traits and dietary needs may vary widely. Generally, Cavapoos should be given dry food that is specifically formulated for puppies, as they can often be quite active and require a food that is high in protein and healthy fats. A basic guideline for feeding a Cavapoo is a 1/4 cup to a 1/2 cup portion, per meal, based on their size and activity level.
When preparing for a new Cavapoo, there are several things to consider. First of all, make sure to budget for the necessary supplies such as food and treats as well as any veterinary bills. Additionally, it is a good idea to establish a routine for the puppy. Decide in advance how and when the puppy will be fed, how much exercise they will receive, and how you plan to manage house training. Most importantly, set aside time each day for play and humananimal bonding.
Cavapoos are highly popular and relatively small-sized dogs, typically weighing between 10 and 25 pounds. While this makes them smaller than many other purebreds, they are considerably bigger than most lap dogs. While they may not meet the traditional definition of a "big" dog, Cavapoos can be quite large for their breed, with some dogs reaching sizes of up to 40 pounds. Generally speaking, Cavapoos could be considered both small and big depending on their size and other physical characteristics.
Cavapoos can have different exercise needs depending on their age, size, and activity level. Generally speaking, they enjoy moderate exercise such as walking and moderate play that can include running or jumping. Adults should have at least one hour of exercise a day, broken into two or three 20-minute segments. Puppies under five months old should have two 15-minute periods of exercise each day, increasing to 30 minutes a day as they grow older. The exercise needs of Cavapoos can also be met through creative activities such as hide-and-seek or using special agility and log equipment.
Cavapoos are an exceptionally friendly and sociable breed and get along very well with children and other family members. Their loving, loyal and intelligent personalities make them an ideal companion for kids of all ages. Cavapoos have a playful attitude and are always seeking attention, making them an ideal choice for a family pet. As long as you socialize them from a young age and ensure they are trained and given plenty of exercise, they tend to get along great with kids.
Training a Cavapoo can be a highly rewarding process that is achievable with the right approach and consistency. With patience, dedication and positive reinforcement, these smart, lovable dogs are often quite eager to respond to commands and they often enjoy the learning process! There are a few things to keep in mind to help ensure the process is a successful one. First, consistency is key. Let your Cavapoo know who's in charge and be prepared to offer rewards for positive behavior. Secondly, use positive methods to avoid instilling fear or anger.
