Cockapoos are intelligent, affectionate and playful dogs that make great companions. Though bred from a mix of a Poodle and a Cocker Spaniel, there is really no one size fits all description of a Cockapoo. These energetic and friendly dogs come in a variety of sizes, coats, and colors. The size of the dog will depend on the type of Poodle bred with the Cocker Spaniel, and there are four sizes: toy, miniature, medium, and standard.
Cockapoos generally have low to non-shedding coats, and they do not produce as much dander as other dogs. This means that many people with allergies find that allergies to Cockapoos are not as severe as allergies to other breeds. That being said, no dog is completely hypoallergenic, and there is no guarantee that a Cockapoo will not cause any allergic reactions.
Cockapoos are known to have an appetite for all kinds of food. This means that they should be kept on a nutritionally balanced diet comprising of a variety of healthy foods that can fulfill their dietary needs. Usually, premium-quality dry dog food tailored for the breed is highly recommended for Cockapoos, as it is a balanced diet made with wholesome and nutritious ingredients. However, occasionally having canned food, cooked proteins, and veggies can be a great addition. Also, implementing home-cooked meals with fresh or frozen ingredients can be an excellent option for Cockapoos.
Yes, Cockapoos do have some special requirements. Generally, they need more frequent grooming and haircuts than other breeds since they have coats that are more prone to tangling and matting. Additionally, Cockapoos may benefit from being exercised daily and weekly visits to a nearby dog park or other activities to help them socialize and stay active. In order to maintain your pet’s health, you should strive for a minimum of thirty minutes of exercise each day, including at least a ten minute walk.
