Not only are they a hybrid mix of the Poodle and the Cocker Spaniel, but they have lots of unique traits and characteristics that make them truly one-of-a-kind. Their intelligence and energy level make them great problem-solvers, and they can quickly learn tricks and commands. They are, however, also very loyal and loving animals, so they make great homes for any family.
The coat of a Cockapoo can vary depending on what type they are. The two most common types are the toy and miniature sized Cockapoo which will usually have a very soft, medium-length double coat that is comprised of long wispy and wavy fur. However, depending on what percentages of the two parent breeds each Cockapoo has, they can also have much shorter fur or fur that has more gravity-defying curls.
Cockapoos generally don't have specific dietary needs, though they do require a healthy and balanced diet. In general, a larger sized Cockapoo is closer to the size of a Cocker Spaniel, with a smaller sized Cockapoo being more similar to the Miniature Poodle. Depending on its age, your Cockapoo should get at least 20-60 minutes of exercise each day. Start with 20 minutes of walking and then, as your pup grows, gradually build up to 60 minutes or to the desired exercise amount that best suits your pup. Keep track of the time, frequency, and type of exercise that your pup takes each day to ensure that it is in good physical shape and is healthy. Remember to take regular breaks for water and to allow your pup relief and some rest as needed.
