Dachshunds have been bred for over 300 years and they have an interesting history. They are thought to have been bred to hunt badgers, and their name is taken from the German phrase “dachs” meaning badger and “hund” which means dog. Dachshunds come in two sizes, standard and miniature. They have a long body and short legs that are actually an advantage when hunting.
Managing allergies with Dachshunds can be a challenge, especially if you are severely allergic. If you are worried about having a reaction, the best thing to do is have an Allergy Test done to determine the severity and specific triggers of your allergies. Once you know the specific allergies, you can choose appropriate grooming and cleaning methods to help reduce your exposure to allergens that may trigger a reaction.
