Dachshunds, also referred to as the "wiener" or "sausage" dog, are a very popular breed and are known for their low-to-the-ground bodies, long ears, short legs, and curved tails. They are highly intelligent and loyal family companions with a strong will of their own. They require plenty of human interaction, attention, exercise and patience when training. Dachshunds usually come in three coat varieties: smooth, wired or long-haired, and also come in a variety of colors.
