They show an impressive determination and focus when completing tasks, and are also incredibly loyal and affectionate with their family. Dachshunds are extremely resourceful, and many have even been trained as therapy dogs and search and rescue dogs. Though their short legs may cause them to be slightly clumsy, this only adds to their charm and makes them fun to be around.
The answer to whether Dachshunds are hypoallergenic depends on the individual and their allergies. Some people may not notice any changes when being around a Dachshund, while others may experience more severe reactions. Generally speaking, Dachshunds are not considered to be hypoallergenic due to the amount of fur and hair they shed. As with any breed, frequent brushing, combing, and vacuuming can help reduce the amount of dander and thus the risk of an allergic reaction. Also, regular bathing can help with shedding.
