French Bulldogs are considered a companion dog breed and are classified under the AKC's Canine Breed Group of Non-Sporting Dogs. French Bulldogs are loyal, playful, and extremely affectionate dogs that are well-known for their distinctive bat-like ears and friendly personalities. These dogs are active indoors, but not very high energy dogs. They do require regular exercise, and can be great companions for kids or adults alike.
French Bulldogs are not inherently hypoallergenic, however, people who suffer from allergies can still consider adopting them as pets. Some people may experience fewer allergic reactions with this breed due to their coat not shedding much hair. While their coats do still produce dander, a thick fur helps prevent the spread of dander particles, reducing the chances of the allergic reactions. In addition, French Bulldogs often receive regular baths to keep their coats clean and help further reduce dander. As such, those who suffer from mild allergies may still be able to live with a French Bulldog.
French Bulldogs are unique and lovable dogs who require a specialized diet. Typically, French Bulldogs should be fed either commercial dry food or canned food specifically designed for the unique nutritional needs of smaller breeds. It's important to note that these foods should be a combination of proteins, healthy fats, carbohydrates, minerals, and vitamins. For puppies and adults, a diet that is comprised of 20-25% protein is best. Feeding your French Bulldog several small meals per day is recommended, rather than one large meal, to aid in digestion.

Thirdly, set a routine that works with your lifestyle.
French Bulldogs are a relatively small breed of dogs. The American Kennel Club states that the French Bulldog breed must weigh no more than 28 pounds and stand no taller than 12 inches between the shoulder tips. Some Frenchies may be a bit larger or smaller than this, depending on the bloodline of the individual dog. On average, most full-grown adult French Bulldogs will weigh somewhere between 16 to 22 pounds and reach heights between 11 to 12 inches at the shoulder. If properly fed and exercised, French Bulldogs can live healthy lives up to about 11 to 14 years of age.
French Bulldogs, like all breeds of dog, require moderate exercise. This breed is strong and agile enough for short runs or short hikes, and they should have several opportunities a week to exercise outside. They are built for short and light exercise as opposed to high-energy activity and it's important that their exercise doesn't become too strenuous. Generally, these dogs need between 30 minutes and an hour of activity each day, depending on their age, weight, and physical ability.
