Goldendoodles are a hybrid of two dog breeds – the Golden Retriever and the Poodle. This combination creates a special breed that is considered to be intelligent, friendly, and loyal. One of the most interesting attributes of Goldendoodles is their almost human-like intelligence and training qualities. Goldendoodles have been known to pick up on commands and new tricks quickly, making them great candidates for dog sports, trick-training, and even therapy work.
Goldendoodles typically experience minimal shedding due to their hybrid nature. Their coats, usually loose, wavy and curly, are a combination of the Golden Retriever's and Poodle's coats, and thus dogs of this variety may not shed as much as their Parent breeds. Generally, Goldendoodles benefit from regular brushing and grooming to help keep their coats clean and healthy. Additionally, owners should look out for any skin issues, such as mange, fleas, or allergies, since these can increase the amount of shedding.
Goldendoodles have healthy appetites, and their diet should reflect that. They should be fed a high-quality, nutrient-dense dry food formulated for their age, size, and activity level. Be sure to read labels to make sure it is free of fillers and artificial additives as these are not nutritionally beneficial for your pup. The Mini Goldendoodle usually weighs 15-30 lb., while the Medium Goldendoodle usually weighs 30-45 lb. The Standard Goldendoodle usually weighs 45-70 lb., and the Maxi Goldendoodle usually weighs 70-90 lb.
