Goldendoodles are a result of crossing a Poodle with a Golden Retriever. Their lifestyle and temperament make them a great combination of a family dog and a therapy pet. Some fun facts about Goldendoodles include that their life-span can range from 10-15 years, they come in three sizes which include standard, medium and miniature, and their coats are only lightly shed so they require minimal grooming meaning they can be a great fit for families with allergies. Goldendoodles are highly intelligent and full of personality which makes them incredibly easy to train.
Goldendoodles are hybrid dogs that have been bred from mixing Golden Retrievers and Poodles, and as such, their coat type varies from one individual to the next. While most Goldendoodles possess low-shedding coats, this does not necessarily make them hypoallergenic. Hypoallergenic means that an animal produces less of the proteins that humans are typically allergic to, which is not guaranteed with any breed, as each individual animal can produce different levels of allergens.
Goldendoodles are prone to digestive problems, so it's important to understand what they can and cannot eat. It's generally suggested to avoid feeding a Goldendoodle any table scraps, cookies, candy, nuts, bones, alcohol, grapes, raisins, onions, garlic, chives, and anything with caffeine. While some Goldendoodles may be able to tolerate certain foods, it's best to stick to the basics and provide them with a high-quality diet, formulated for their specific size and energy levels.
To prepare for your new Goldendoodle, it is important to understand its needs and how to provide the best environment for its growth and development. First, make sure that you have purchased all the essentials for your pet, such as an appropriate-sized crate, a leash, snacks and toys. Next, research the breed and its specific behaviors and tendencies so you can better understand your pet. Additionally, it is important to start developing a consistent exercise and feeding schedule to ensure your pet's health and happiness.
Goldendoodles can range in size, so it truly depends upon the parentage of the individual Goldendoodle. Generally speaking, Mini Goldendoodles, which are crosses between Golden Retrievers and Miniature Poodles, are considered small in size and typically weigh around 25-45 pounds at full adulthood. On the other hand, if the parentage includes Standard Poodles, the result is a much larger dog, usually weighing 55-80 pounds.

Training a Goldendoodle involves consistency, patience, and consistency. Start the process off by teaching basic commands, such as 'sit', 'stay', and 'come'. Next, introduce the dog to other activities such as agility, obedience, fly ball, and/or nose work. Give your pup plenty of positive reinforcement, such as treats and verbal praises, to encourage and reinforce learning new skills.
