Sporting dogs are bred to provide support and assistance to hunters, such as identifying birds, retrieving them when shot, and even guarding the kill until the hunter returns. Characteristically, Labrador Retrievers are highly intelligent and incredibly loyal family companions, not only making them great hunting companions, but also outstanding citizens of the home.
