Questions & Answers
Pomskies are beautiful and popular hybrid dogs resulting from the breeding of a Pomeranian and a Siberian Husky. Pomskies are known for their fluffy coats, friendly personalities, and intelligence. They can be a medium-sized breed, weighing between 10 and 30 pounds depending on the parent breeds. While they may shed a lot, they will benefit from regular brushing to keep their coats healthy and free of tangles. Pomskies are considered highly active and social dogs and require daily exercise, mental stimulation, and attention from their owners and/or caregiver.
Pomskies have a thick, fluffy coat that is often described as "teddy-bear-like". It can vary from a soft and silky undercoat to a wiry and coarse topcoat. Depending on the ratio of husky to Pomeranian genes, their coat can be anywhere from short and curly to long and straight. Usually, it will be somewhere in between, with a medium length and a slightly wavy texture. Color is usually bleached white or light brown, usually with patches of a darker color on the legs and face.
Pomskies need a balanced diet, so it is important to be mindful of what you are feeding them. Human food is one of the most common items you should avoid giving to your Pomskie. Foods like chips, candy, chocolate, and anything with high levels of sugar and salt should never be given to a Pomskie. Additionally, some fruits that are high in acidity, such as lemons, limes, and oranges, should be limited or avoided to prevent vomiting.
Preparation is key when bringing a new Pomsky into your home! Before you bring your furry new addition home, you should make sure you have all the essential items such as food and water dishes, a supply of food, grooming tools, an appropriately sized crate or kennel, and several toys for your pup to play with. You should also research obedience classes or a private trainer in your area to help ensure your pup is properly trained. Additionally, it's important to puppy-proof your home and make sure any off-limit areas are blocked off.
Pomskies are a hybrid breed, not widely recognized by the American Kennel Club, and active members of any family's household. As a cross between the Pomeranian and Siberian Husky, Pomskies can vary in size, some reaching up to 35 pounds or more, while others remain smaller. Generally speaking, they tend to be mid-sized dogs and their weight can depend on the size of their parents. In any case, they always appear bigger than their purebred Pomeranian heritage would have one think.
Pomskies are incredibly energetic and active dogs! This is a hybrid breed resulting from a Pomeranian and Siberian Husky mix, and they have some of the characteristics of both breeds. While Pomeranians tend to be somewhat more laid back, the Siberian Husky side of them makes them incredibly active dogs. So, even though it may not be apparent at first, Pomskies need regular physical and mental stimulation to keep them happy and healthy. With the right amount of exercise, socialization and play time, Pomskies will show a lot of enthusiasm and become very loyal companions.
Pomskies are generally excellent playmates for children, as they love to romp and jog around with their human friends! These loving dogs have great patience with kids, and since they're small in stature, they don't take up too much space in the home. Pomskies are known for being friendly and having a good nature, which make them perfect for families with children. Their loyalty and intelligence also give them an advantage in providing good companionship for kids.
The amount of time you will need to devote to training a Pomsky will depend on the age and temperament of your pup. Generally, puppies less than four months old need around 10-20 minutes of training and exercises per day, while older dogs may require more. Your pup may need more time if they are more challenging to train. It is important to stick to a routine to ensure your pup learns and retains information. Additionally, you should be sure to reward your pup with treats and positive reinforcement for good behavior.
