Questions & Answers
Pomskies are a cross between a Pomeranian and a Siberian Husky and make an excellent companion if they are given regular exercise. On average, a full-grown Pomsky is between 10 and 15 inches tall at the shoulders and can weigh up to 30 pounds. Pomskies have a double coat which means they shed seasonally and need occasional brushing to keep their coats healthy. They have a wide variety of eye colour choices ranging from blue to parti to brown. Pomskies are incredibly intelligent and highly trainable, making them excellent family members.
Pomskies are considered to be a hypoallergenic breed, as they are a hybrid between a Pomeranian and Siberian Husky. While they can shed a bit, their single coat doesn't actually produce the loose, furry hair that many people are allergic to. Additionally, they generally don't produce the odors that can lead to allergic reactions. Not all people who suffer from allergies will be able to tolerate Pomskies, but they are generally considered to be a good choice for allergy sufferers.
Pomskies may have different dietary needs as compared to other dogs. As a hybrid breed containing both Pomeranian and Siberian Husky qualities, they have dietary requirements that you will want to pay particular attention to. Just like other members of the canine species, they require complete and balanced diets that include sources of proteins, carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. In addition to those, you should also look for a diet that is lower in fat, healthier fats, and higher in amino acids.
Pomskies do have some special requirements you need to consider if you choose to adopt a Pomsky. It is important to make sure your future pup is well socialized, as Pomskies can be rather shy around strangers. Additionally, they need plenty of daily exercise, as they have high energy levels that can otherwise lead to behavioral problems. It is also essential to provide them with proper nutrition, as they can have difficulty maintaining a healthy weight. Lastly, good oral hygiene is important for Pomskies, and brushing their teeth regularly should be a part of your regular grooming routine.
Pomskies typically grow to be between 10-15 inches tall when measured from the shoulders, and they can usually weigh anywhere from 15-30 pounds. Their size and weight depend largely on the size of the parents, with smaller dogs being on the low end of the scale and larger ones being on the higher end. Generally, the smaller parent will provide a smaller pup while the larger parent will provide a larger pup. Despite its size, the Pomsky can be a great family dog that thrives under lots of attention.
Generally, it is recommended for Pomskies to receive at least 45 minutes of exercise per day in order to stay happy and healthy. This should include at least 30 minutes of walking or light jogging each day, with additional activities included as desired. To ensure that your Pomsky receives enough exercise, it is important to tailor their daily walk to their individual needs. Start off with 15-20 minutes walk per day, and gradually increase the duration to make sure your Pomsky is getting enough exercise.
Generally, Pomskies get along with other pets very well. A Pomsky is renowned for its friendly, outgoing and social nature, which can make them a great companion to cats, dogs and other animals. With proper socialization, proper obedience training and a calm, positive reinforcement-based approach, Pomskies can typically fit in with other family members without too much difficulty.
Training a Pomsky can be rewarding and enjoyable for both you and your pet. In order to get the best success with your pup, it is important to use positive reinforcement. That is, rewarding your puppy for good and desired behaviors with treats or verbal praise. Involve your Pomsky in activities which spark their interest and create a positive learning environment. Start with basic commands such as sit or stay, and be consistent when giving out rewards or consequences. Set a specific routine for feeding and potty times to help them understand when it is time to take care of their needs and establish a consistent routine.
