A Poodle is a breed of dog with a curly coat of fur and a distinctive pompon topknot. Its origin dates back to 15th century Germany and France, and the breed was bred as a sporting dog originally. The various sizes of Poodles are classified as Standard, Miniature, and Toy, and with the Schnauzer these are the only breeds recognized as having three officially distinct sizes.
Poodles are a non-shedding breed of dog, which makes them an excellent choice for those who suffer from allergies or those who prefer not to have pet hair in their home. Poodles do not produce a lot of dander like most breeds, which helps them remain low allergen. Amongst the three size varieties, the Standard, Miniature, and Toy, the Toy Poodle is the only one that could potentially shed lightly.
