Questions & Answers
Poodles are beautiful, intelligent and loyal dogs. They're easily recognizable with their curly coats and come in three sizes Toy, Miniature and Standard. Poodles thrive in the companionship of their owners and need lots of emotional and physical attention. They require regular brushing and trimming to keep their coats healthy, and need regular exercise to keep them happy and healthy. While they are generally loyal and devoted family members, they can be wary of strangers and benefit from early socialization and obedience training.
Poodles are generally considered a non-shedding breed. This is due to the fact that the coat of a poodle contains only fine downy hairs that are static when rubbed against, instead of loose hairs that stick to clothing and furniture. Furthermore, they have a hypoallergenic coat that does not shed dander or fur, meaning that many allergy-sufferers are able to keep a poodle without experiencing allergy flare-ups.
Poodles, like all other dog breeds, have specific dietary needs that should not be overlooked. As a general rule of thumb, you should avoid feeding Poodles anything containing grains, artificial flavors, and added sugars, as they are difficult for Poodles to digest and can upset their stomachs. You should also avoid giving Poodles any food that is high in cholesterol or fat, such as beef, pork, and high-fat dairy products. Table scraps should be kept to a minimum too, as they often contain ingredients that can cause Poodles gastrointestinal distress.
Before getting a Poodle, it is essential to purchase the proper supplies and supplies that help keep your pup healthy and safe. This includes a good quality collar with a sturdy leash, toys, a pet food and water bowl, grooming tools, treats, a comfortable bed, and a resource such as a book or guide on how to raise and care for a Poodle. Additionally, it may be beneficial to create a dog-safe environment in your house, such as baby-proofing outlets and removing anything that a dog could easily chew.
Poodles come in three basic sizes: Standard, Miniature, and Toy. Standards typically range from 15 to 22 inches in height and can weigh between 45 and 70 pounds. Miniature Poodles range from 11 to 15 inches in height and can weigh 15 to 17 pounds. Toy Poodles grow between just 6 to 9 inches tall and may weigh less than 10 pounds.
Poodles are a very active breed of dog they love exercise and most of them enjoy splashing around in the water. Generally, they enjoy swimming and playing in the water; however, given their woolly coats, it's important to take warming measures and ensure they're properly dried off afterward. Additionally, some Poodles especially those with short legs may either be wary of the water or not be strong enough swimmers to happily go all the way in. Therefore, it's important to monitor them while they swim and provide any necessary help, if needed.
Poodles are generally considered to be good family dogs when given the proper attention and care. Intelligent and eager to please, poodles make a great companion and are even easily trainable. They are relatively small in size, so they can easily fit into a variety of homes—from condos to larger houses. They come in a few sizes to choose from, so depending on the amount of space you have, you may have a variety of poodles to choose from.
Poodles are often considered one of the most intelligent dog breeds, and for good reason. Poodles were originally bred to assist in hunting tasks, so they have the ability to think and solve problems. In addition, they have excellent memories and strong problem-solving capabilities. Studies have shown that poodles can remember new commands more than 80% of the time after just five repetitions, which is much higher than other breeds. They can also learn complex commands, including tricks, and excel in competitive obedience, agility, and other canine sports.
