The main advantage of crossing these two breeds is that Bernedoodles tend to have the calm, easy-going nature of the Bernese Mountain Dog, as well as the intelligence and playfulness of the Poodle. Additionally, Bernedoodles are often loyal and affectionate around their family, making them excellent companion dogs.
Bernedoodles are considered to be a ‘hypoallergenic’ variety of dog, but as with any breed, it’s difficult to guarantee that they will not cause any allergic reactions in their owners. They are a mix of the Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle, and both breeds are considered to be low-shedding and have minimal ‘doggy odor’ compared to other breeds. Unlike many other breeds, they contain a minimal amount of furry, protein-containing dander, which is the main cause of allergies in people.
