They were originally bred in Newfoundland, Canada, as fishermen's helpers. They're the most popular dog breed in the United States and have been the number one breed for the last 29 years! Labs have an average life expectancy of 10 to 12 years and come in three distinct colors yellow, black, and chocolate. They have webbed feet that make them excellent swimmers, and they have a double coat that keeps them comfortable in any weather.
Labrador Retrievers have a beautiful and distinctive coat of thick, short, and water-resistant fur that can come in a variety of colors including black, chocolate, and yellow. It also has a thick, waterproof ‘otter’ tail that helps them swim. Labradors possess a ‘double coat’ which consists of a dense, oily undercoat and a wavier top coat made up of longer guard hairs.
