Pomskies are a unique and captivating breed of dog with a very fascinating history. Originally created by intentionally crossbreeding small arctic sled dogs such as Siberian Huskies and Pomeranians, the primary purpose for the pomsky was to be a small, loyal, and petite family companion, rather than a working dog. Due to their mixed origins they have two very distinct personality traits; the adventurousness of a husky and the precociousness of a pomeranian. This blend creates a wonderfully dynamic pet, fluctuating between loving cuddles and bursts of energy.
Pomskies have a unique and plush coat that combines the best traits of their two parent breeds--the Siberian Husky and the Pomeranian. These coats often come in a variety of colors, ranging from gray, tan, and black, to white and cream. Depending on the dominant genes in their family tree, the textures of a Pomsky's coat can vary widely. It can be fluffy and soft, or dense and stiff. Each of these have their pros and cons with regards to shedding and climate comfort. In general, their coats are thick and require weekly brushing and periodic grooming.
