Labradoodles are designer hybrid dogs, a combination of a Labradore Retriever and a Poodle, developed to combine the best of both breeds. They are friendly, intelligent, and family oriented, making them great pets. Labradoodles typically mature to a height between 17 and 24 inches, and their coats can range from straight to curly and may also be wiry. They are considered to be low-shedding, so you won't have to worry about frequent trips to the groomers or lots of hair around the house.
Labradoodles are considered to be low-shedding dogs, meaning that their fur tends to not shed as much as other breeds. However, for a fully non-shedding breed, you would want to look into other breeds such as the Poodle, the Miniature Schnauzer, or the Bichon Frise. It should be noted, however, that regular grooming is still necessary for all breeds including Labradoodles in order to maintain their fur and keep it healthy.
Labradoodles come in a variety of sizes, so the nutritional needs of a particular pup may vary. Generally, however, Labradoodles have no more particular dietary requirements than other breeds. Like all dogs, the Labradoodle needs a balanced diet containing the essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients to stay healthy. So while Labradoodles do not have any special dietary needs, they should receive a nutritionally balanced, species-appropriate diet that meets their individual needs; meaning selection of food tailored to the size, age, and activity level of the dog.
Become a puppy parent for your Labradoodle by first researching the temperament and behavioral traits of a Labradoodle, so you can understand how best to approach and interact with them. Secondly, make sure to take your Labradoodle to puppy socialization classes, such as obedience, agility, or retrieval, so they are comfortable in social scenarios and understand basic commands.
