Labradoodles are becoming increasingly popular thanks to their combination of intelligence, gentle nature, and abilities as a working dog. Typically a hybrid of a Labrador retriever and a Poodle, these designer dogs are great for a variety of owners. They are loyal, protective, great with children and easy-to-train, making them ideal for families. Labradoodles require regular grooming and require early obedience training to ensure they stay well-behaved. They do best in an active home and should get plenty of physical exercise and mental stimulation.
Labradoodles are hybrid breeds of Labrador Retrievers and Poodles and their coat types can vary greatly. Generally, Labradoodles have a low-to-non shedding coat type which can make them less likely to trigger allergies. However, it is impossible to know if any specific Labradoodle will be hypoallergenic until the dog is adult size, which is usually around 18 months. While fewer allergens can be produced from a low-shedding breed, non-shedding breeds are not automatically hypoallergenic.
