Labradoodles are incredibly unique dogs! They were bred from Labrador Retrievers crossed with Poodle, resulting in a canine with intelligence, energy, and trainability. Labradoodles are a hypoallergenic breed, making them a great choice for people with allergies. This dog breed is also beloved for their friendliness and love of cuddles. They are also incredibly loyal, making them great family dogs. Additionally, Labradoodles are often quite photogenic and were even featured in an Apple commercial.
The Labradoodle's coat is usually soft and silky, with waves or curls that resemble a Poodle's coat. They come in a variety of length and colors, including black, white, silver, chocolate, yellow, apricot and red. Some Labradoodles have parti-colored coats, while others may have tan markings. It's not uncommon for a Labradoodle to have a slightly wiry outer coat with a soft undercoat. Generally, the fur will shed minimally, and they will require minimal grooming other than regular brushing.
Labradoodles should never be given food that are unhealthy for them or food that they are not accustomed to. Labradoodles, like any other breed, require specific care to keep them in good health. In particular, they need regular brushing and combing of their medium to long coat, regular grooming including nail trimming, bathing, and even occasional professional haircuts. Being descended from both the Labrador Retriever and the Poodle, they require lots of exercise, such as long walks, playtime off a leash in a safe area, trips to the beach, and fun activities in general with an owner who is physically active.
Labradoodles can be considered a big dog due to the fact that they are a hybrid breed, combining the Labrador Retriever and Poodle genetics. Depending on the size of the poodle used for the breeding, this could result in Labradoodles which range in size from small, medium, or large. The American Kennel Club recognizes Labradoodles as "medium" size, which generally weigh between 10-34 kilograms when fully grown.
