Labradoodles are a cross between Labrador Retrievers and Standard or Miniature Poodles. These designer dogs, often called “doodles”, typically range in size from about 30 to 60 pounds and have curly to wavy coats. Their curly locks are usually non-shedding and can range in color from white to chocolate. Though their exact temperament varies according to the mix, they are known to be loyal, cheerful, intelligent and friendly great in many different homes.
Labradoodles are a hybrid breed created by mixing a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle, making them part hypoallergenic. However, the degree of hypoallergenic property varies widely depending on the amount of Poodle used in the crossbreeding. Generally speaking, Labradoodles typically possess minimal shedding, so there is less pet dander in their coat, reducing the chance of triggering an allergic reaction.
In general, Labradoodles require a food formulated with higher protein and fat content than most other breeds. A quality food designed specifically for large breeds of dogs with athletic builds would be ideal for a Labradoodle.
