Labradoodles are a hybrid breed, first developed in Australia in the late 1980s. They are a cross between a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle, although some newer Labsradoodles are now developed from a Labrador Retriver and a Goldendoodle, as these are growing in popularity. Labradoodles are friendly, intelligent, and easily trainable, making them awesome companions. They have a generally lowto non-shedding coat, making them suitable for people with allergies and asthma.
Labradoodles have a low to non-allergenic coat, so it is uncommon for people to have any type of allergic reaction when coming in contact with them. However, like all animals, they can still produce allergens, so it's best to use caution when interacting with them. It's important to remember that allergies are quite individualised, so even if someone else does not have an allergic reaction to Labradoodles, you may still have one.
Labradoodles typically eat a high-quality diet filled with essential nutrients and minerals for their size, age, and level of activity. This usually includes a combination of dry kibble and canned wet food. Depending on their unique requirements, Labradoodles may also receive some form of fresh food such as cooked meat, fish, fresh fruits, and vegetables. It is important to ensure that all their meals are nutrient-rich and of high quality in order to keep them healthy and fit.
Before bringing your new Labradoodle home, it's important to take some steps to ensure that you're properly prepared. Spend some time researching the breed; consider its size, lifestyle, training requirements and any potential health issues that could arise. Get your home ready too; make sure that any potentially hazardous areas are safe and secure, and that areas for sleeping, exercising and potty breaks are prepared. You'll also need to have food, treats, toys, a collar and leash, and a good quality puppy shampoo.
Labradoodles can grow to be quite large. Depending on the genetic composition of the Labradoodle, they typically reach between 20-27 inches in height and can weigh between 40-70 pounds. Labradoodles are considered a medium-to-large breed, although this can be slightly smaller depending on the size of their parents. Additionally, Labradoodles bred as a working guide dog may be larger than the average Labradoodle.
Absolutely, you can take your Labradoodle running! Generally, Labradoodles love to exercise and can be a great running companion.
