Labradoodles are a relatively new breed of dog that are a cross between a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle. They are highly trainable and intelligent, and are often used as therapy dogs. Labradoodles come in a variety of sizes and colors; colors range from red to black and sizes vary from toy to standard size. Due to their intelligence, Labradoodles require plenty of mental stimulation and regular exercise, which makes them an ideal companion if you have an active lifestyle.
Labradoodles generally have low-to-no shedding coats, making them an excellent choice for people who suffer from pet allergies. Labradoodles are cross bred from a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle, which are both breeds known for having a low tendency to shed, so they tend to have coats that shed very little. In addition, Labradoodles are often groomed and clipped, which can result in an even lower rate of shedding.
Labradoodles are generally omnivorous, so they eat a healthy and balanced diet. Labradoodles come in several sizes, depending on the generation of the Labradoodle. Toy Labradoodles typically reach heights between 10 to 14 inches and weigh between 10 and 20 pounds. Miniature Labradoodles stand 19-24 inches tall and weigh between 20 and 30 pounds; while Medium Labradoodles are between Mediums stand 22-25 inches tall and weigh between 30 and 45 pounds. Standard Labradoodles reach from 24 to 28 inches tall and weigh between 45-55 pounds.
Labradoodles are an active and energetic breed, so they require plenty of exercise. On average, they need 60 minutes of physical activity every day, with longer, more involved activities such as hikes or runs at least a few times a week. However, every Labradoodle is an individual, so while some may enjoy running for hours, others may prefer shorter walks or a leisurely game of catch. If you’re introducing a new exercise routine, begin with shorter, less strenuous activities and gradually increase the duration and intensity.
