Labradoodles are a crossbreed made by crossing Labrador Retrievers and Poodles. They are recognized as hybrid or designer breeds, rather than having a recognized breed class or standard. They have characteristics of both Labradors and Poodles, making them low-shedding, intelligent, and good-natured dogs. Many Labradoodles are known for their sociable personalities, although they can vary due to the breed of each parent.
Labradoodles are renowned for their signature coats which include many variations of color and texture. On average, their coats are thick and plush with an assortment of shades depending on the parent breeds, such as black, cream, red, gray, apricot and even parti. Generally, Labradoodles will have a low-shedding coat with wave or curls, although they can range from straight to shaggy. Some Labradoodle coats even require clippering and more frequent grooming to avoid matting.
Labradoodles generally do best on a combination of high-quality dry kibble, canned food and is supplemented with healthy treats. For kibble, look for a product made with real meat as the top ingredient and skip those that load up on corn, wheat and other fillers.
