Questions & Answers
Labradoodles are a relatively new breed of designer dog that were created in the late 1980s. Though technically not a purebred dog, they are a huge hit among canine lovers with their low-shedding coat, hypoallergenic qualities, and high intelligence. Labradoodles often come in an array of colors ranging from light cream to deep black, and their coats can be straight, wavy or curly.
Labradoodles have been bred to be a cross between a Labrador Retriever and a Standard Poodle, both of which are known for their low-to-no shedding coats. But the degree of shedding can vary greatly depending on the generations and the parent breeds. Generally, Labradoodles have a low-shedding coat, though some may shed very lightly or even not at all. In most cases, they will require occasional grooming for best results, which can include brushing and occasional clipping.
Labradoodles are a breed of dog specifically bred to be hypoallergenic companion dogs. Proper nutrition is an important part of ensuring the health of these dogs. Labradoodles can eat a variety of food, including high-quality dry kibble, cooked lean meats, canned wet food, grains, and vegetables. However, it is important to avoid unhealthy and dangerous foods, such as chocolate, coffee, or currants. Feeding Labradoodles a balanced diet with all the essential macro and micronutrients is one of the best ways to support their health.
Preparing your home for your new Labradoodle can seem like a daunting task, however there are a few simple steps you can take before your pup arrives. First, make sure your Labradoodle will have lots of space to explore and play in your home. Create areas that can be used for potty training and provide items like food, bedding, and toys. Make sure to block off any areas you don't want your puppy to access, and keep small items and valuables out of reach. Additionally, research your pup's breed in order to understand its characteristics and needs better.
Every Labradoodle puppy is different, so it’s difficult to predict their ultimate size with any certainty. Depending largely on their genetic makeup, most Labradoodle puppies will grow to be between 20 to 25 inches tall at the shoulder and 40 to 70lbs in weight. However, the size range can differ slightly if the Labradoodle puppy in question is bred from two different Toy breed parent dogs, or from two larger Standard breed parent dogs, as this can affect the size of the resulting puppy. Ultimately, your Labradoodle puppy’s size may be a complete surprise!
Labradoodles are active dogs, and so they need regular exercise to stay healthy and fit. Depending on the individual Labradoodle's energy level, they generally should get at least one hour of exercise per day. Exercise activities should be varied, so you could include activities like fetch, swimming, and short hikes. If you don't have time to exercise your Labradoodle properly, consider providing interactive toys to keep them occupied and use up any pent up energy. Additionally, you can keep your Labradoodle mentally stimulated through training and tricks which can also help burn off some energy.
Generally speaking, Labradoodles are very social dogs who get along very well with kids. They are highly intelligent, easy to train, and eager to please, which makes them excellent family pets. Their calm demeanor, patience, and friendliness around children is what makes them so popular. Additionally, Labradoodles usually live between 10 and 15 years, so they can be a great companion to children as they grow up.
Labradoodles are renowned for their intelligence and trainability. Developed out of a need for a more intelligent and easily trained guide dog, these mixed breeds combine the intelligence of the Labrador Retriever with the non-shedding coat of the Poodle. This has resulted in an intelligent, friendly and outgoing dog that is smart enough to be trained to perform tasks that assist people with disabilities. The smart Labrador Retriever parent also endows them with the ability to learn quickly, making them an ideal pet for families eager to train their pet in obedience skills.
