While Labradoodles are not recognized as a distinct breed by the American Kennel Club, they have gained great popularity since their commercial creation in 1988 by breeders in Australia. Labradoodles are usually crossed to be either first, second, or third-generation dogs, with later generations becoming even more desirable due to their consistent temperament and predictable non-shedding coats.
Labradoodles are considered a low-shedding breed, but not entirely non-shedding. These hybrids have a medium-length coat that typically sheds very little compared to other breeds.
