Questions & Answers
Labradoodles are a hybrid breed that are a combination of a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle. The exact traits determine what type of Labradoodle you will end up with and are usually described as F1, F1B, F2, Multigen or Australian. Labradoodles are generally known for their intelligence and ability to learn quickly, making them great family pets. They are known to be affectionate, loyal and easy to train and can range from miniature with a size of 15-25 lbs to a standard with sizes as large as 60-80 lbs.
Labradoodles are known for their hypoallergenic coats, however this does not guarantee that they are completely hypoallergenic. Even though Labradoodles tend to have less of an amount of dander, a pet allergy can still be triggered by their saliva or fur. Some Labradoodles may be better suited for people with pet allergies than others and it is important to consider this before buying a Labradoodle. For individuals who are considering a Labradoodle, it is best to meet the puppy first and observe if any symptoms arise before making a decision.
Labradoodles should not be fed human food, table scraps, or sugary treats like candy, cookies, cakes, or ice cream. They should also not be fed products intended for other animals, such as pork, poultry, or fish. Additionally, raw eggs, dairy products, and sweetened beverages like soda should not be given to Labradoodles. It is also important not to feed Labradoodles bones, alcohol, or any type of toxic plant or fruit; this could result in severe health issues or death.
Preparing for your new Labradoodle should begin well in advance of its arrival. First, stock up on essential supplies, such as a dog bed, food and water bowls, a brush, a collar and leash, and toys. Next, research which food and treats are best for Labradoodles, and speak to your veterinarian for insights. Make sure to familiarize yourself with any bathroom, grooming, or exercise routines the breed typically needs. It's also important to factor in the cost of insurance and immunizations your Labradoodle may require.
Labradoodles generally reach their max size at 2-3 years old. This varies from individual to individual, but on average, an adult Labradoodle can stand anywhere from 15-24 inches at the shoulder and weigh anywhere from 30-45 pounds. It's possible for Labradoodles to reach sizes greater than this, but this is rare and not considered the standard. Labradoodles typically possess a longer, less-shaggy coat than their parent breed counterparts.
Labradoodles are intelligent, active, and energetic dogs that enjoy spending time with their owners. As such, they need a good deal of exercise in order to remain happy and healthy. Depending on the age of the Labradoodle, exercise requirements can vary, but in general these dogs need at least 1-2 hours of exercises every day, preferably split between two different sessions. Exercise can consist of a combination of free-time activities and structured activities such as walks, trips to the local dog park or swimming in a pool or lake.
Labradoodles have endeared themselves to families everywhere with their fun-loving, friendly personalities. They are incredibly social, and thrive on spending time with people and other pets. They have the Lab's enthusiasm for adventure and the Poodle's childlike playfulness, which makes them great family dogs. They are intelligent, loyal, loving, and respond well to training. This makes them an excellent choice for families with children. They are also very tolerant, so they can be good with toddlers and older kids. They are generally healthy and relatively low maintenance.
Labradoodles are recognized to be very intelligent dogs. They are known to have excellent problem-solving and obedience skills, due to their high level of intelligence and a strong desire to please their owners. Labradoodles are also very friendly and loyal, which makes them a great family pet. Moreover, they have been found to learn quickly when training, and they respond well with consistency and positive reinforcement. Labradoodles are known to pick up new tricks and commands very quickly and remember them for a long time.
